Rakkatak is Anita Katakkar's solo project that incorporates Indian classical rhythms, lustrous melodies and waves of synths. Anita collaborates with like minded Toronto artists to create an atmospheric backdrop for her work. While every picture tells a story, every beat creates a vibe. The possibilities are endless!
Anita has studied tabla since 1994 and is a multi-faceted composing, performing and recording artist who brings her Toronto roots into her approach to tabla. Anita has studied tabla with Toronto based composer and musician Ritesh Das and more recently with the preminent exponent of Lucknow style tabla Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. Anita has recorded, performed and toured with the Toronto Tabla Ensemble, toured nationally with The Tea Party and internationally with Jeff Martin.
